The Assignment

Rentokil Initial commissioned Boost Video to film and edit a range of job roles within the company. Aimed at graduates, these videos would assist the human resources department in the recruitment drive process.

The videos were intended to give a simple insight to the work environment and benefits, through interviewing existing employees about their day to day work, intermixed with examples of them undertaking some of the functions. Videos would be used internally and externally by Rentokil including across social media platforms.

The Shoot

Rentokil’s head of recruitment hand picked staff who would be taking part in this shoot and prepared the questions. The challenge for Boost Video was to make it appeal to a graduate audience and despite filming in one location, ensure it didn’t look staged.

Baz Hodson, Managing Director and Filmmaker, explained: “Despite a lot of pre-planning we didn’t know what the actual location would be like until we arrived on the day. Rentokil supplied backdrops to ensure we were ’on-brand’ during the interviews and we had to think on our feet to find multiple areas within a limited environment where we could film the staff undertaking their daily job roles. Mocking up the job functions always require a level of authenticity, which can be difficult with staff who have not had experience in front of camera. Gaining a good rapport is key and making each individual feel at ease is the key and I think we achieved this really well with the Rentokil staff and the resulting recruitment videos.”

The Final Cut
